Melaleuca Scenic Flight 1
Take in breathtaking views as you arrive via the Tasmanian South Coast and Maatsuyker Island, returning over Federation Peak.

Melaleuca Scenic Flight 2 (Extended)
An extended journey covering the South Coast, Maatsuyker Island, and Port Davey, returning via Federation Peak, Vanishing Falls, and the Hartz Mountain Range.

Melaleuca Scenic Flight 3 (Ultimate)
The ultimate Tasmanian wilderness experience. Fly along the South Coast, over Port Davey and Elliott Point, then cross the Franklin Range to Strathgordon Dam and Lake Pedder before returning via Davey River and Bathurst Harbour.

What to Expect
While Melaleuca is our destination, the journey is what makes this experience truly remarkable. Prepare to be amazed as we fly along Bruny Island’s coastline, passing The Neck, Adventure Bay, The Friars, and Cloudy Bay before heading towards the historic Bruny Island Lighthouse. From there, we continue along Tasmania’s remote southern coastline, over Maatsuyker Island and its lighthouse, before reaching Bathurst Channel and landing at Melaleuca Airstrip.
What to Do at Melaleuca
During your two-hour stopover, explore the area’s unique history and stunning natural environment.
- Walk through the historic tin mine site.
- Stroll along the 1.2km Aboriginal Needwonnee boardwalk, learning about the land’s original inhabitants.
- Spot the rare orange-bellied parrot from the dedicated bird hide.
Longer full-day excursions, including kayaking and scenic boat tours, can be arranged in advance (subject to availability). Serious wilderness hikers can also arrange for extended drop-offs and pick-ups.
The Return Journey
On the way back, marvel at the vast south-west wilderness. Fly past some of Australia’s tallest sea cliffs, Federation Peak, and the incredible Vanishing Falls before following the Huon River and D’Entrecasteaux Channel back to the airstrip. Total flight time, including stopover, is approximately 3.5 hours with 85 minutes of breathtaking flight time.
