Melaleuca and Southern Wilderness Scenic Flights
All Melaleuca and Southern Wilderness Area scenic flights include a stunning journey over South Bruny Island and a two-hour stopover at Melaleuca to explore this remote and pristine area.
What to Expect
While Melaleuca is our destination, the journey is what makes this experience truly remarkable. Prepare to be amazed as we fly along Bruny Island’s coastline, passing The Neck, Adventure Bay, The Friars, and Cloudy Bay before heading towards the historic Bruny Island Lighthouse. From there, we continue along Tasmania’s remote southern coastline, over Maatsuyker Island and its lighthouse, before reaching Bathurst Channel and landing at Melaleuca Airstrip.
What to Do at Melaleuca
During your two-hour stopover, explore the area’s unique history and stunning natural environment.
- Walk through the historic tin mine site.
- Stroll along the 1.2km Aboriginal Needwonnee boardwalk, learning about the land’s original inhabitants.
- Spot the rare orange-bellied parrot from the dedicated bird hide.
Longer full-day excursions, including kayaking and scenic boat tours, can be arranged in advance (subject to availability). Serious wilderness hikers can also arrange for extended drop-offs and pick-ups.
